Author Info : Outlaws nut ~~~ Don't fear the "LOCAL.MSG" overwrite - your weapon pick-up messages for maps like Launch Pad, Hoe2, will remain intact when you overwrite their LOCAL.MSG with mine. (The reverse is not true, see below.) * Also, it won't affect your Outlaws at all either way. Description : You are a ROBOT! You start with only fists, beaming down out of a spaceship, you land on a rock, take a step and you have a Ray Pistol... it's not enough gun so go find a better weapon! Based on the single player epic for Outlaws, 2172. The Weapons Are: ~~~ Ray Pistol (pistol) on key #2, pistol is more accurate but still wimpy. ~~~ Pulsegun (double barrel) on key #5, one shot mode is long range killer, two shot mode is EXTREME close range panic gun, NO AIMING required. ~~~ Laser (walking gatling gun) on key #6, fire #1 and fire #2 are equal, just different sounds. ~~~ Photon Sticks on key #7, more powerful than standard tnt. ~~~ Super Knife on key #8, more powerful than standard knife, try TOSSIN' 'em! ~~~ Death Ray (gatling gun) on key #9, 'nuff said. Overall, your best bet is to get hold of a Laser. * The Item Pick-up Messages: You will see custom weapon and health pick-up messages in Robots until you overwrite LOCAL.MSG from any map with a LOCAL.MSG file included in the zip. If you get Launch Pad or Hoe2 (could be others) AFTER you get Robots, DON'T extract their LOCAL.MSG file because you already have it from Robots - Robots' LOCAL.MSG file already includes the custom messages from those maps. But if you do overwrite or delete my LOCAL.MSG it's no problem, Robots will still work. Dynamite boxes are marked "P.S." for Photon Sticks. Guns and ammo are somewhat color-coded. The reason you can't get get back in the respawn area is because the plates there are quick-regenerating and there are many elixirs, intended to give all respawners full protection as they head out into battle, even if they get hit while still up there. It's not a perfect situation but all factors considered, the alternatives are less practical. I have it so when you die, you drop loaded guns, not ammo... therefore there will be some good guns dropped there from time to time. If there's a player up there with a laser, you'd better destroy him! EG: SMURFS.lab * Construction * Base : New level from scratch Editor(s) used : LawMaker, NWXed, etc. Known Bugs : If you beam down from the black ship and walk straight off without ever turning you will be in a sector error and need to "die" (type in oltombstone). But you'd probably never do that in actual gameplay. There's a wall or two on which I can't get the texture to stop moving because of the way it's built. It doesn't affect the game. If your hands or weapons or anything turns red it's just from the lava and goes away when you die. * Copyright / Permissions * I don't expect anyone to use any of this map, however... Authors MAY use this level or the items within as a base to build additional levels, BUT you must use the characters and weapons AS THEY ARE with no modifications and you MUST let me check your map before you release it. The reason being, I must check to see that no sounds, etc., were left out. WARNING: On the robot characters... only the frames used in multiplayer were changed, you can't use these characters in single player, they don't have all the pictures changed into robots. On the inventory and ground pick-up weapons and ammo... unless you're used to it, it would be pretty confusing for you to use things from this map. The Photon Sticks and Super Knife require two additional files which reside outside of the Lab - ggreytnt.3do and gmknife.3do. Knife and dyno are extra confusing. My other maps: Single player - Nuthouse, Shanghai, Riders, 2172. All chock full of amazing new stuff to see and hear! (Riders and 2172 are "must play" levels, go get 'em!) Multiplayer - Sandbar, Dizzee, Lilhouse, Jammed, Thump Tower (thump.zip). also co-author of Hooker2 (all objects, sounds, stitching, loose ends) COMING SOON: Spacewar !!
