LiteGuns v.1.0 Hacked by Paleface Available from http://paleface.net/fileutil.html ----------------------- Introduction to LiteGuns "LiteGuns" is a hack for Lucasart's Outlaws PC game that makes your weapons invisible to you. Why is this good? Well for those desperate for better framerates it improves fps by about 10-20% while firing your weapons, depending on your system speed; if you have a very fast system you might see very little improvement. It should also cut down on Outlaw's texture memory usage and load time. The liteguns.zip archive contains the following 51 files: ibdbsgun.nwx ibdynam.nwx ibfist.nwx ibknife.nwx ibpistol.nwx ibrifle.nwx ibsawgun.nwx ibshtgun.nwx iddbsgun.nwx iddynam.nwx idfist.nwx idknife.nwx idpistol.nwx idrifle.nwx idsawgun.nwx idshtgun.nwx ifdbsgun.nwx ifdynam.nwx iffist.nwx ifknife.nwx ifpistol.nwx ifrifle.nwx ifsawgun.nwx ifshtgun.nwx igatgun.nwx ijdbsgun.nwx ijdynam.nwx ijfist.nwx ijfistx.nwx ijknife.nwx ijpistol.nwx ijrifle.nwx ijsawgun.nwx ijshtgun.nwx imdbsgun.nwx imdynam.nwx imfist.nwx imknife.nwx impistol.nwx imrifle.nwx imsawgun.nwx imshtgun.nwx isdbsgun.nwx isdynam.nwx isfist.nwx isknife.nwx ispistol.nwx isrifle.nwx issawgun.nwx isshtgun.nwx liteguns.txt ----------------------- Installing LiteGuns Extract all 51 files (leave out the liteguns.txt if you prefer) into your Outlaws game folder. When you next run Outlaws you should see no hands or weapons in your first-person view. You will still be able to attack as normal. ----------------------- Uninstalling LiteGuns If you want to see your guns again or just want to get rid of LiteGuns for any reason, simply delete all the files you extracted. Except for the liteguns.txt (this readme) they all begin with the letter "i", so if you view the contents of your Outlaws folder arranged by name it should be a simple matter to select and erase all the files quickly. ----------------------- How LiteGuns Works In Outlaws each hand-held weapon you see has a separate file name ending with ".nwx". These files are contained in the "olweap.lab" datafile in your Outlaws directory. Each ".nwx" contains a number of graphic files in ".bmp" format that make up the weapon animations you see while firing and loading your guns in Outlaws. You can extract the ".nwx" files using the "ConMan" tool in the LawMaker* editing program and then edit them using the NWX Editor*. The LiteGuns files replicate the weapons files in the olweap.lab. However, the weapon animation frames have been replaced with a single transparent pixel. When you load Outlaws it first looks through the Outlaws directory for the weapon files before checking the olweap.lab datafile. Since the LiteGun files are in the Outlaws directory it finds them before the normal weapon files and replaces the normal weapon views with a single blank pixel. Because your computer can display this single pixel more quickly than it can a larger image you should see improved framerates in Outlaws. Also because the modified weapon files are much smaller in file size the game should load more quickly and take up less memory. Not seeing the weapons takes away some of the fun of the game but the framerate and memory improvements may make installing LiteGuns worthwhile for some people, particularly those with slower systems. ----------------------- *References LawMaker The standard freeware Outlaws editing program by Alexei Novikov.
